Radiation Hazards at Jupiter

2008-08-08 12:08

A contract was signed on 8 August 2008 between ESA and QinetiQ Ltd. (UK) as prime contractor, and ONERA (F) and DH Consultancy (B) as subcontractors, for the development "Jupiter Radiation Environment and Effects Tools".

The objectives are to develop and implement engineering tools to allow in-depth analyses of the environments to be expected on future missions to Jupiter, which has a particularly intense radiation belt. Analysis tools supporting radiation effects mitigation techniques such as shielding will also be developed.

The work will be completed in 2010. For further information, please contact John Sorensen.
