P67/C-G's contributions to the meteoroid environment

How did the solar system's meteoroid environment become what it is? And how did comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko contribute to it? The video below shows an outcome of the Interplanetary Meteoroid Environment for Exploration (IMEX) study. It visualizes the evolution of the cometary tail over 155 years. Each color represents a set of particles with masses ranging from 10-9 to 10-3 g that is ejected around a particular perihelion passage. Calculating the orbit evolutions for all these particles over long timesframes will provide important information about the composition and formation of the interplanetary dust environment.
A special aspect of this project is that it was not computed on a single super computer, but instead on the computers of thousands of volunteers connected via the Internet as a citizen science effort, using the Constellation Platform.
