A contract has been kicked off with RUAG Space (CH) and PSI (CH) for a Phase A/B study on a radiation-hard electron monitor (RADEM) instrument. While "traditional" radiation monitors, such as the SREM, are mainly targeted to the near-Earth environment or the interplanetary space, the aim of the new development is to enable accurate and sustainable radiation monitoring operations in extremely harsh space radiation environments, such as the trapped radiation belts of Jupiter or missions flying close to the Sun.
