Micrometeoroid & Debris Database

The Meteoroid & Debris (M&D) Database is maintained at the Johnson Space Center (JSC), and presently contains over 20,000 individual records of impact features that have been documented from various pieces of space-exposed hardware, predominantly LDEF.

The M&D database constitutes the most detailed account of the LEO particulate environment during the period of 1984 to 1990. As the orbital-debris population is expected to increase, the LDEF data will provide an accurate historical record for the period of 1984-1990 against which future efforts in mitigating the debris population can be compared.

The M&D database is maintained by Thomas H. See.
