um521 - ground disturbance from Kp

subroutine  um521(lbl, fkp)

Parameters:

• lbl [character32,out] :: label of the external magnetic field model

• fkp [real8,in] :: geomagnetic activity index Kp

Description

The subroutine um521() initializes the argument mext.ikp of the common block uc140 by computing a ground disturbance index from Kp. The relation between the value of the argument mext.ikp and the Kp index is function of the external magnetic field model as illustrated on the figure below.

As result, the argument lbl contains a string with the label of the external magnetic field.
