The Event selection criterion is when the NOAA/GOES- five minute averaged flux exceeds p+/cm²/s/sr. The event is considered to have ended when the flux returns to below p+/cm²/s/sr.

The Loge Event Integrated Fluence has been fit to:
Form of Fit | A | B | X² | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Exp. In Rigidity, R1 | A * e-R/B | |||
Exp. in Energy | A * e-E/B | |||
Power Law | A * EB | |||
1 Where the rigidity is defined by: R(E) = SQRT( E² + 1862*E)) ; Energy (E) is in MeV |
The X² column above appears in red if the value is greater than , yellow if less than and green if less than . This can be used as a quick reference to the applicability of the various fits. The X² function is calculated as a relative error, not the absolute error, for the loge of the event fluence. i.e.
X²(a,b)=SUM( ((yi - a - b*xi)²/yi))
This is goodness of fit measure is only provided to permit a comparison between various algorithms.
Radiation Effects Plots include:
These plots were created from the exponential in rigidity fit mentioned above. As this fit might not always accurately represent the form of the integral particle spectrum, the radiation effects plots might not reliably represent the actual dose/degradation of the event.
